The Southern Upland Way is Britain's first official coast to coast long distance path. It offers 212 miles (340kms) of superb and varied walking country, still undiscovered by many enthusiasts.
From Portpatrick to Cockburnspath and climbing to 2378 feet the Way offers a route with real challenges for the serious long distance walker. However, don't be alarmed by the enormity of SUW, there are many short sections and circular walks enroute that are perfect for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
Walk on rugged hillsides, through forests, over grouse moors and rolling farmland to the coastal cliff tops. Spot prized wildlife - Golden Eagle, Osprey, Red Squirrel and Pine Martin. Absorb the rich history, legend and culture of the Southern Uplands. Build up an appetite for local beef, heather fed hill lamb or a beer from one of the small breweries that supplying pubs along the Way.
Visit Southern Upland Way Website for all the information you need to enjoy the Southern Upland Way and places and events to be found along it - whether you are doing the whole route or taking in a short section as part of a visit to the south of Scotland.
